Our marc, or « grape brandy », is distilled purely from Mourvedre grapes grown in our La Tourtine vineyard, then aged in new oak barrels for 10 years, during which it develops its strong character of complex aromas and finesse. In Provence, marc is the traditional after-dinner drink on festive occasions.
Domaine Tempier does its own distilling using simple techniques to produce a marc with around 50% Alc. vol. Steam distillation is used to extract and accentuate the characteristic aromas of the La Tourtine and Cabassaou vineyards.
The marc is aged for 8 to 10 years in 225 litre barriques of a specific oak variety and toast.
